The field hockey team (2–0) destroyed the Clarksburg Coyotes (1–1) 4–0 Friday night in their first home game.
The Vikes got off to a hot start, with sophomore Emma Foscarini putting the Vikes up 1–0 to start the first quarter. The defense consistently held their own throughout the half and gave the Coyotes few opportunities at a goal. The Vikes hit the back of the net three more times in short order to provide the Vikes with a 4–0 lead going into halftime.
Following the first half, the second half was canceled following severe weather in the area, allowing Whitman to take the win only after the first half.
The team next plays the Seneca Valley Eagles (0–1) on Monday at 7:30 in hopes of keeping their winning record.
