Girls soccer loses for the first time this season

**By Lee Cary**

Varsity girls soccer fell to the Churchill Bulldogs 1-0 in overtime, Oct 1, ending its six game winning streak.

The Lady Vikes had a couple of early chances, including a shot that forced the Churchill goalkeeper to make a crucial diving save and tip the ball over the net.

However, Churchill continued to challenge the Viking defense in a physical game for both teams.

Despite several Bulldog chances, both teams failed to produce any goals in regulation, and the game went into overtime.

With five minutes remaining in the second overtime period, a Bulldog forward ripped a shot from just inside the box.  The ball bounced off goalkeeper Hannah Sasscer’s hands and into the back of the net for the only goal of the game.  The goal was the first allowed by Sasscer all season.

The Lady Vikes look to bounce back with an away game against the Richard Montgomery Rockets on Oct 5.
