The baseball team (14–5) was eliminated from the playoffs by the Blair Blazers 5–4 on Monday, after their comeback effort fell short.
The Vikes found themselves down 4–0 following a rocky first inning and spent the rest of the game digging themselves out of the first inning hole.
As the game progressed, the Vikings settled down and gradually chipped away at the Blazers’ lead until they went into the seventh inning down 5–3.
“We looked for our pitch to hit and once we started to hit it, we just got guys and once we got guys on, we started to get more runs across, and that’s what we really had to do the entire game,” pitcher Rob Burgess said.
The Vikes needed two runs in the 7th inning to tie the game, and they scored one run but couldn’t bring a second runner home.
“At the end, we gave them a run for the money, but overall we didn’t have enough,” Burgess said.
