The baseball team (13–4) outlasted the Wootton Patriots 12–10 on Tuesday in a game that was defined by high powered offensive performances from both teams.
Both teams started the game out hitting red hot, leading to a score of 8–8 after the third inning. But after that, the Vikes held the Patriots to only two more runs while putting up four of their own.
“We struggled a bit defensively early on; however, our offense really picked us up to push us to the win,” outfielder Tyler Paul said.
The explosive offensive performance secured the victory for the Vikes and helped them overcome inconsistencies on the mound and in the field.
“Normally, our pitching is our best asset and is what keeps us in games,” Paul said. “However, we were a little off today, but luckily our offense was there to pick us up.”
The Vikings’ high powered attack was lead by Ben Rosenblatt, Tyler DeMartino and Tyler Hwang, who each had multiple hits.
The team’s next game will be a playoff match up on Friday against the Northwood Gladiators.
