The girls softball team (4–10) fell to the Rockville Rams 6–1 Thursday as the Vikes’ offense failed to pay off.
The Vikes hit the ball hard and often, but the balls simply couldn’t find the gaps.
“We had a lot of really solid, hard hits,” first baseman Jenny Williams said. “We just had trouble finding holes.”
The Rams were able to find the holes however, as they scored six runs. On top of that, they committed very few errors in the field.
“Rockville came out and hit the ball hard and routinely made their plays,” Williams said.
The squad played clean defense as well, but gave up some hits with runners in scoring position, which ran up the score for the Rams.
With the playoffs fast approaching, Williams emphasized the importance of smart decision making and energetic play for the team.
The Vikes will next play at home Monday at 4 versus National Cathedral for the team’s senior night.
