The baseball team (11–2) edged out the Quince Orchard Cougars in an intense 5–2 match on Tuesday that was decided in the seventh inning.
Both teams were neck and neck throughout the game and the score was tied at two runs apiece going into the seventh inning.
Then, the Vikes scored three runs in the top of the inning that gave them the lead.
“Our team really came together in the later innings,” outfielder Tyler Paul said. “Everyone was cheering each other on and behind solid offense and defense, and we pulled up some huge plays to to come up with the win.”
While the Vikings’ offense came up huge at the end of the game, their stellar defense and pitching kept the team in position for the late surge that decided the game.
“Great defense, as well as a powerful pitching performance by Sean Cook, allowed us to limit QO’s offense,” Paul said.
The squad’s next game is home against the Blake Bengals Saturday at 1:30.
