The girls softball team (3–5) fell to the Blair Blazers 18–0 Monday, as the Blazers became the second straight team to shut out the Vikes.
The squad has now faced two tough pitching teams in a row and have not scored a run in two games.
Shortstop Lucy Cronin attributes this drought to a lack of contact at the plate.
“At bat we need to be making more contact,” Cronin said. “Then we can turn hits into runs.”
The Vikes had baserunners on at many times, but struggled to get a hit with runners in scoring position.
The Blazers hit with a lot of power, but were also aided by fielding errors. Cronin said she would like to see that be improved for the next game.
“We need to always know what we need to be doing so we can make smart decisions when we have the ball,” Cronin said.
The Vikes will play next on Friday away against the Northwood Gladiators at 3:45.
