“I’m a fan of mindfulness: I’m actually reading a book on meditation right now and mindfulness. I just got back from a meditation retreat in Virginia [over winter break]. You just go sit in the woods quietly for a week and try not to think too much. You’re allowed to talk sometimes, but you meditate a lot during the day. It is good for you and brings you closer to yourself and to life or whatever. I think it teaches you a lot about yourself, so I’ve learned about myself, and by learning about myself I’ve learned about other people because when you when you understand yourself and how humans work you understand other people. I go to Sangha meetings. Sangha means community and they’re at the Universalist church down the road. It’s like a meditation and conversation and discussion meeting.”—senior Marina Finelli
