The girls volleyball team improved their record to 4–1 Thursday evening with a 3–0 shutout of the Walter Johnson Wildcats
The Viking defense was tested throughout the game by Walter Johnson’s offensive line.
“Their front row was pretty strong,” middle blocker and team captain Cami Rogers said. “We were a little worried going into the game, but we knew we could take them.”
The Wildcat offense did put up a fight, totalling 64 points throughout the match, but the Vikes’ defense was able to hold them off to secure all three sets.
“We had a really solid defense, our blocks were up, our back row kept low, our defense was solid overall,” Rogers said.
The second set posed the greatest challenge for the Vikings, after a late rally by the Wildcats forced the set into a win by two.
“I told my team to keep their energy up, play volleyball the way we know how to play, fix the small mistakes and keep it up,” Rogers said.
The Vikings went on to win the set 26–24.
The Vikings’ next game is against the undefeated Churchill Bulldogs at home next Tuesday.
