Boys tennis lost in all of their games against Wootton in County Finals.
“Wootton was sensational this year,” coach Jason Gohn said. “There’s no shame in losing to a superior opponent.”
Senior Aaron Hoffman, who participated in the #3 singles tournament, lost his first set 7-5 and his second set 6-2.
“I played really well, probably the best I’ve played all season,” Hoffman said, “
My opponent played really well.”
Juniors Jacob Pine and Adam Schefkind lost both sets of their match to opponents from Wootton. Next year, Gohn hopes to build up the confidence of Pine and Shefkind. “When they play with confidence, they play a lot better,” he said.
#1 ranked player for Whitman, senior Pablo Gottret, lost in the semi- finals
on Friday, May 7.
“It was a good match,” he said, “For me to have won every point, it would hav
e been difficult.”
Despite their loses, Gohn is satisfied with his team’s performance. “We didn’t give it to them,” he said. “No matter how good you are, there’s always going to be someone better.”
