The boys had a strong first two sets, scoring 20 points in each, but fell behind at the end of each as they went down 2-0.
They maintained a steady lead in the final set but fell behind. They were eventually edged out 25-22 to end the game.
Lots of the team’s new talent had to step up in order to fill gaps left by missing starters.
Backup setter Jake Schwartz stepped up to the plate and commanded the floor, with the team’s unison and game plan coming to fruition for the first time.
Despite the team’s inexperience, the Vikings were able to demonstrate their ability to keep plays alive and set-plays.
Coach John Floyd says that these losses are acceptable as long as the team continues to make progress.
“We are improving, we are still competing,” he said. “We are looking to keep getting better and get over the hump.
