Guard Abby Meyers led the team with 26 points, scoring 13 in both the first and third quarters. Guard Hannah Niles added 17 of her own, going an impressive 5-6 from behind the arc, and forward Betsy Knox had 10.

“We couldn’t buy a bucket for a while but we were able to dominate the boards which gave us a ton of opportunities to score,” forward Marie Hatch said. “It was a great way to end the season and credits to Northwood for competing so well.”

The Vikings came out with strong play on both sides of the ball, and in their first possession of the game, they grabbed six offensive rebounds, making it look like more of a team shoot around than game. By the end of the first quarter, the Vikings got out to a demanding 28-6 lead.

The team cooled down in the second quarter and led the Gladiators 36-12 at the half.

The third and fourth quarters were more of the same, with the Vikings showing their dominance over their opponents and outscoring them 22-9 and 18-1 in each, respectively.

The girls look to go far in the playoffs and will begin their run at home next Monday against an opponent to be determined.

A full story of the Lady Vikes’ road to states will be in the next issue of the Black & White print edition.
