After beating the Gaithersburg Trojans earlier this season, the softball team fell 16-2 in their second match-up this Friday.
“It was a rough loss,” third baseman Elena Kozak said. “Our bats started going just a little too late. There are definitely things that our coaches saw that we need to improve on. Hopefully, we will get a chance to have some long practices before playoffs.”
The Trojans were able to read the Vikings’ starting pitcher Lauren Furst since they faced her earlier this year Kozak said, however Taylor Shinaberry looked sharp in relief.
Centerfielder Leah Gordon led a strong defensive effort in the game, throwing out two Trojans at home.
“It just wasn’t our day,” shortstop Jenny Williams said. “But we still have one more game before playoffs and I’m hoping we go out on a good note.”
The 4-11 Vikings look to end the regular season with a win when they host the Clarksburg Coyotes this Monday.
