After three losses this week, the Vikings softball team clicked on all cylinders to thrash the Watkins Mill Wolverines 14-1 this Saturday afternoon.
“We just dominated the game on all fronts, so no one play or person stands out,” said outfielder Leah Gordon, who singled twice in the victory. “It was just a great overall game, both [offensively and defensively].”
Vikes starting pitcher Lauren Furst had her best performance of the season, striking out eight Wolverines and allowing only two hits over five innings.
Furst, who had a single in the game, said Saturday’s game was better than the past few. She added that Friday’s first full team practice in a long time enabled her to work on fundamentals, allowing her to pitch better against the Wolverines.
“I think that we all really wanted a win, so we were aggressive up at bat and really started to make connection with the ball,” Furst said.
The 4-8 Vikings hope to add to their winning streak on Tuesday, when they travel to face Gaithersburg.
