Ever since a disheartening loss to Good Counsel to open the season, the girls lacrosse team has been on a roll. After dismantling Wootton and Blake this weekend, the Vikings have won five in a row and are tied for first in their division.
Friday’s game was a hard-fought, 14-10 victory over the Wootton Patriots in Rockville. Sophomore Hannah Ginsky and Maddie Parker led the team with three goals each, and Caroline Schweitzer, Ali Dane and Jenna Hosker each added two. Goalies Lily Blum and Hannah Tatem combined to make eight saves.
Coach Katie Bitonti said the team has improved in many ways from last year’s team.
“We are playing really well as a team,” she said.
Saturday’s game was much less competitive, as the Vikings dominated Blake from start to finish in a 13-2 throttling of the Blake Bengals at home. Parker once again led the team with four goals and an assist and Ginsky and Schweitzer both added three points.
The Vikings hope to continue their dominance this week at home against rival Churchill on Monday and at B-CC on Friday.
“Churchill and BCC are both going to be tough division games for us,” Bitonti said. “The girls are ready for the challenge and we’re hoping to come out on top.”
