The boys lacrosse team fell to Needham Broughton, 9-6, in its season-opener in Raleigh, North Carolina over the weekend.
The team kept the game close throughout its entirety, shutting down Needham’s offense and allowing mostly fast break goals.
The offense also picked it up in the second half, scoring just four seconds in to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Vikings had a balanced scoring attack with five different players scoring, including two goals from Alex Hosker.
The Vikes, however, couldn’t get any closer than that, eventually falling 9-6 in a hard fought and physical game.
“It helped us realize what areas we have to work on and also helped us know how we match up against good teams and what we have to do to keep those games close,” midfielder Alex Hilsenrath said.
The Vikes will now take on the Blake Bengals, Wed. Mar. 26, before returning home to open up against the Paint Branch Panthers, Fri. Mar. 27.
