The boys basketball team didn’t end its regular season the way it had hoped, falling to a 3-18 Northwood, 52-33.
The Vikings never got going, only scoring four points in the first quarter and finding themselves down 12-0 to start the game.
The Northwood lead only grew from there and at the end of the third quarter the Vikes found themselves down by 23, the biggest deficit of the season.
Northwood was able to keep its lead with solid three-point shooting, hitting nine, and strong defense under the basket, blocking many of the Viking shots.
As for the Vikes, no player scored over seven points and the 33 point final was also their lowest of the season.
“Last night’s loss was pretty rough,” forward Adam Lowet said. “There was absolutely no energy the entire night and we were lazy on both ends, but you can be sure that we’ll have plenty of intensity on Friday with all the guys that are fired up for playoffs.”
The loss, however, does not effect the Vikings’ playoff seeding, as the team drew its playoff matchup last Sunday. The Vikings start the playoffs as the second seed in Section 1 of 4A West and will host the seventh-seeded Kennedy Cavaliers, Fri. Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
