The boys basketball team crushed the Wootton Patriots by 30 points and cruised to a 62-32 win, Dec. 16, improving its record to 2-2.
Point guard Max Steinhorn and guard Kyle Depollar led the team again, scoring 14 and 13 points respectively, and each having their third double-digit game this season. Guard Riley Shaver also added 11 points for his second straight game in double-digits.
The Vikes continued right where they left off last game, coming out and scoring 18 points in each of the first two quarters to take a commanding 36-16 lead into halftime.
The team’s defense shut down its opponents, holding the Patriots to only eight points per quarter.
“We have started to switch up our defenses and hit other teams with traps and disrupt their offense,” guard Alex Lesley said. “We have a bunch of really good athletes on our team that let up traps and force turnovers.”
The Vikings were then able to coast through the second half scoring 26 points and easily win by 30.
The Vikes have two more games this week against the Northwest Jaguars at home, Dec. 18, before traveling to rival Churchill on Friday.
