The boys basketball team fell to the Rockville Rams, 52-47, to drop its record to 0-2 on the season, Dec. 11.
The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 10 but had to be postponed because of a snow day. The game then started off slowly with neither team getting its offense going in the first two quarters and then the Vikings entering the half down, 21-12.
In the third quarter, however, guard Max Steinhorn, who led the team with 11 points, hit two back-to-back three pointers to start off a run that put the Vikes up by 11.
The Rams then put up a comeback of their own, taking over at the end of the fourth quarter when Nehemiah Jackson hit big three pointers of his own to give the Rams a lead they wouldn’t give up.
In the first two games this season, the Vikings have held the game close until the fourth quarter, and look to improve on their intensity throughout the game.
“We need to bring our intensity both on the offensive and defensive end,” guard Justin Kay said. “Our team chemistry has to be there and we have to count on each other to make the right play.”
The team will look to rebound and pick up its first win against rival Landon Bears Fri. Dec. 13 in their home opener.
