The Vikings football team continued its hot streak with a 28-7 win over the Churchill Bulldogs. It was the Vikings’ third win in a row.
The Vikings’ record improved to 6-3 while the Bulldogs record fell to 1-9.
The Vikes started off strong in the first half scoring all 28 of their points before Churchill scored any.
Quarterback Evan Smith connected with tight end Anton Casey for the first score of the game with a seventeen-yard strike.
Smith built on last week’s strong game and finished 7-11 for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Not only did the defense shut down the Churchill offense, but it put points on the board in the first quarter. Defensive end Scott Adkins recovered a fumble and took it back to the house for the Vikings’ second touchdown.
Then, once the second quarter started, running back Zac Morton took control of the game. He had two touchdowns and ended the game with 159 yards. Heading into the last regular season game of the season, he trails Einstein running back Khalil Wilson by 91 yards for the county rushing title.
The Vikes finish the regular season next Friday in an important game at Blair.
“It’s a must win situation for us,” linebacker Riley Lewis said. “We need a victory to have a shot at making playoffs.”
