The girls tennis team finished tied for second in the county after a strong performance this week at the county tournament.
To go along with the second place team finish, sisters Emily and Miranda Tompkins each earned a gold medal after winning the number two doubles title. Doubles players Emilia Malachowski and Maggie McGowan and singles player Kamilla Beisenova also earned silver medals for their play after they both lost in the finals.

“We really relied on each other and helped each other play better,” Emily Tompkins said. “Since we are sisters it’s a lot easier to play together and our strengths complement our weaknesses.”
Beisenova lost a long two-and-a- half hour match to Wootton singles player Miranda Deng.
Whitman finished the tournament with 17 points, tied with the Churchill Bulldogs and behind the Patriots who had a commanding victory, accumulating 26 points and winning five of the seven individual titles.
The Vikes finished their season with a record of 10-2 as a team but individual players will continue to compete in the regional tournament starting Oct. 25.
