The girls soccer team shocked the nationally ranked and undefeated Good Counsel Falcons, Oct. 19, with a strong 3-0 win.
The Vikes took the lead early in the first half and never let up, then scoring two goals late to ice the game.
In the 8th minute, midfielder Aliza Wolfe scored on a penalty kick after forward Emma Anderson was fouled driving into the box.
The rest of the first half remained scoreless with the Falcons having their opportunities to score with seven shots on goal but was unable to convert.
The Vikes took over the second half but the score remained 1-0 until the 75th minute when forward forward Anna Gurney, who scored two goals Thurs., headed a cross in from midfielder Michelle Innerarity.
Then less than two minutes later, the Vikes sealed the game scoring their third goal on a powerful direct kick by Wolfe.
The Viking defense tightened up as the game went along only allowing one shot on goal in the second half compared to the seven they allowed in the first.
A Falcon coach also received a yellow card for screaming at referees during the tough second half for the Falcons.
The Vikes will figure out what their playoff draw is Mon. Oct. 21 when the tournament is announced and are assured at least one home game.
