The girls tennis team ended its regular season Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Northwood. Seemingly endless rain pushed the match back two separate times. The match was originally scheduled for last Thursday.
The Vikes’ record ends at 10-2, good for third in the county only behind Wootton and Churchill. After the loss, Northwood’s record fell to 1-10.
Not only did every lady Vike win her match in straight sets, but not one dropped a single game.
Hopefully the lady Vikes carry on their dominance into next week when they compete in the county championships. Whitman’s main competition will be Wootton and Churchill, two teams that Whitman played competitively with during the regular season.
Senior captain Whitney Cinkala has high hopes for the county championships.
“A lot of the doubles teams and singles players have a really good shot at going far in their draw,” Cinkala said. “So the team has a good chance too.”
