While Monday night football happens every week, Monday afternoon football is a much rarer occurrence.
The football team fought honorably, but lost to Damascus, 21-6 on Monday. The game was supposed to be played Friday night but heavy rain delayed the game until Monday afternoon.
The Vikes’ record drops to 3-3 while Damascus’s record improves to 5-1.
Damascus is ranked ninth of all the schools in the metro area by the Washington Post and their only loss was to third-ranked Quince Orchard.
The Vikings lost to Quince Orchard by 42 points so only losing by 15 to a similarly strong team shows a bit of improvement.
The Vikes’ lone score was a 40 yard touchdown by running back Zac Morton in the fourth quater. Morton had a strong game with 193 yards on only 14 carries. He even completed a ten-yard pass.
Morton now has 990 yards on the season. His total is the twelfth highest of all rushers in the metro area and first of all Montgomery County schools.
The Vikes look to get on a roll this Friday as they travel to play a 4-2 Springbrook.Foo
