The girls’ soccer team once again put up a strong offensive performance against the Einstein Titans, winning 7-0, Sept. 25 improving its record to 4-0-1.
The Vikes spread the ball around effectively, having six different players score, and took a commanding lead early scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes. Forward Clare Severe scored the first goal of the game within the first 10 minutes, breaking the game open.
Forward Emma Anderson then scored five minutes later and Severe followed Anderson’s goal up two minutes later making the score 3-0 early. The Vikes put another two balls in the back of the net in the first half with goals by forward Josie Schwartz and midfielder Maddie Parker.
“We have been playing very direct recently,” Parker said. “We have also been taking more shots than we did at the beginning of the season.”
Goals by midfielder Nicole Fleck and forward Abby Meyer extended the Vikes lead in the second half to 7-0 and only three shots on goal by the Titans lead the Vikings to victory. The team has also beaten its opponents 23-1 in their past 4 games.
“We have a very strong back lime who communicates well and get the ball out of the back quickly,” Parker said.
The team looks to keep its unbeaten season alive at home against the 4-0 Gaithersburg Trojans, Sept. 30.
