Feel free to call the football team the kings of Bethesda—they deserve it.
In the now annual afternoon bout with the BCC Barons, the Vikes emerged victorious with a 24-0 win. The Vikings improved their record to 2-1 while the Barons fell to 1-2.
Senior running back Zac Morton and the rest of the Vikes’ offense rebounded after a slow game against QO. Morton finished with 121 yards and a touchdown.
While the offense played well, the defense was a real game changer. The Barons struggled to move the ball anywhere. They finished with only 25 passing yards and 111 yards overall.
The defense also forced multiple turnovers. Senior safety Nabil Ibrahim intercepted a pass that set up the Viking’s score in the first quarter.
“Our defense stayed disciplined the whole game and we came up with some big plays because of it,” Ibrahim said.
After the interception, junior quarterback Evan Smith threw a 14-yard touchdown to junior tight end Anton Casey.
Special teams also played a big part in the game. Senior kicker Zach Snyder had three field goals, the longest of which was 36 yards.
The Vikes hope for another win next Friday as they travel to Wootton to face the Patriots.
