The baseball team improved its record to 9-2 April 17, defeating the Wootton Patriots 7-2.
This is the second consecutive win for Vikes following a break in their previous seven-game winning streak, when they lost to B-CC.
Apart from a Patriots home run in the top of the second inning, the Vikes dominated the entire game. Pitcher Alex Cladouhos pitched four solid innings, surrendering only two runs. The win moves Cladouhos’ record to 4-1 on the year. Pitcher Gabe Steinberg finished the game with three shutout innings.
Third basemen Andrew Castagnetti shined on offense, driving in three runs and keying the Vikes to a win. Shortstop Patrick Hisle, centerfielder Drew Aherne and rightfielder Michael Yang each contributed multiple hits.
“We are back to playing Whitman baseball,” Steinberg said. “We made plays in the field, hit the ball well and picked each other up.”
The Vikes look to improve their record to 10-2 when they take on the 3-8 Walter Johnson Wildcats April 22.
