Boys basketball snaps four game losing streak

The boys basketball team defeated the 5-14 Gaithersburg Trojans 43-35 Feb. 8 at home, ending its four game losing streak and improving to 10-9.
The game got off to a slow start and both teams struggled to score against aggressive defense. The first quarter ended with the Vikes up 8-7.
From that point on it was all Vikes as the team’s defense held the Trojans to only 28 points in the last three quarters.

Offensively, captain Andrew Castagnetti led the team to victory, scoring 20 points from mostly inside the three-point line. Guard Liam Hatch and captain Daniel Lowet added eight and seven points respectively.

“Our team defense kept us in the game,” Castagnetti said. “We are trying to get these next three wins so we have momentum going into the playoffs.”

The team hopes to win again in its game against the 12-7 Blair Blazers Feb. 12.
