Ice Hockey dominates the D.C. Stars, 8-1

The 5-2-2 ice hockey team defeated the D.C. Stars 8-1 at Rockville Ice Arena Jan. 4.

With 10:34 remaining in the first period forward Matt LeBeau scored off an assist from forward Andy Dexter. Less than two minutes later, senior Dustin Gray added to the Vikes’ lead with another goal. Forward Colin Rankin and captain J.M. Hellman also scored to make it 4-0 at the end of the first.

The second period was quiet on both sides of the ice until forward Jeff Marr netted the Vikings’ fifth goal of the night. A few minutes into the third period, Rakeem Smith of the D.C. Stars scored the team’s lone goal of the game. The Vikes continued their offensive attack with a goal by captain Lucas Karron off a play set up by forwards Grant Payette and Ethan Weintraub. Marr and Gray each tallied another goal, ending the game at a final score of 8-1.

“Overall we played great and executed our plays pretty well,” forward Dawood Amiri said. “The coaches were pleased and it was a fun game.”
