The field hockey team overpowered the 2-1-1 Springbrook Blue Devils with a fortified team effort Sept. 12, winning 2-1 and improving its record to 1-1.

The Vikes dominated the first half, scoring both of their goals. Defender Olivia LeBeau scored one and forward Allie Boyan scored the other, notching her third goal of the season.
The team was aggressive offensively, getting 16 total shots on goal.
The team, however, began to let up the pressure, allowing Springbrook to score with about fifteen minutes left on the clock. Coach Lindsay Weller immediately called a time out, and the intensity resumed. The team rebounded from the goal with a renewed focus on defense to maintain its lead in the waning minutes.
Though the Blue Devils switched to an offensive scheme, the Vikes held strong and the score remained 2-1.
The team looks to build on the win when it faces the 4-0 Sherwood Warriors Sept. 14 in its its first home game of the season. Look for the game to be a thriller, as the Warriors beat the Vikings 2-1 in overtime last season, ending their playoff run.
