The girls soccer team dominated the 0-1 Clarksburg Coyotes to win 3-0 Sept. 4 away, kicking their record up to 2-0.
Forward Dani Okon scored the Vikes’ first goal near the end of the first half as the team worked to find their rhythm.
“We were still playing really well; we just didn’t finish our chances,” midfielder Aliza Wolfe said.
The Vikes got into their stride in the second half, creating opportunities to score and getting shots on goal. Forward Anna Gurney scored two goals in quick succession, bringing the Vikes’ goal total up to three, where it remained for the rest of the match.
Defender Bahar Ulusan made a solid comeback after time off with an injury, with an assist. The defense held off the Coyotes, only letting the ball reach goalie Anna Zeisel once. The win was Zeisel’s second shutout in a row.
The Vikes will keep the ball rolling as they prepare to face the 1-1-0 Poolesville Falcons Sept. 13 at their first home game of the season.
