The girls tennis team beat the 0-1 Clarksburg Coyotes 6-1 Friday Aug 31, starting off the season with a 1-0 record.
The Vikes came through with strong performances throughout the team, and the one loss was a forfeit due to one of the girls being unable to play. Whitney Cinkala had an especially strong match, which she won with strong overhand technique. Overall, the Coyotes proved to be no match for the Vikings, and the win set a strong tone for the rest of the season.
“We definitely showed them what Whitman is made of,” singles player Sarah Dar said.
The Vikes take on the Blair Blazers Sept. 9 at home.
