Going Out Guide: a spot of tea

Looking for a way to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee? Try grabbing a spot of tea at one of these local restaurants.

Zen Tara Teas

Zen Tara Teas offers a variety of hot and iced teas, as well as assorted pastries and snacks. Photo courtesy zentaratea.com.

Located on Bethesda Ave, Zen Tara is the most convenient place for tea. Their menu offers a wide variety, from Chamomile Lavender to the classic Earl Grey. A unique menu offering is their Flowering Teas, which contain flower blossoms and tea leaves sewn together with silk thread. As the tea steeps, the flower blooms.

Teas can be ordered to-go or a personal-sized pot can be brought to your table. Also, all teas can have Taiwanese-style bubbles added to them.

Teaism

Though the distance to Teaism’s DuPont Circle location may seem far, it’s definitely worth the trip for the shop’s extensive menu of tasty treats.

Teaism offers several variations of black, green and white teas, as while as more creative teas like Berry Beauty and World Peace. For dessert, their Hungarian Tea Cake filled with apricot filling is a must-have.
