The softball team beat the 5-9 Clarksburg Coyotes 4-3 at home May 7, escalating its record to 9-6.

The game started out strong for the Vikes in the second inning as shortstop Rachel Sisco hit her first home run of the season down left field, scoring the first run of the game.
“It was great to hit a homerun,” Sisco said. “I was surprised and happy at the same time.”
The Vikes struggled to earn hits during much of the game, helping the Coyotes maintain a slight lead.
At the bottom of the seventh inning, the Coyotes were up 3-2, but the Vikings struck back as Sisco tied the game with an RBI and catcher Sydney Gertzog brought another runner home to win the game.
“We were both pretty even going into it, but at the last minute we managed to pull through,” Gertzog said.
The Vikings will look to top off their record on May 9 when they play the 2-12 Kennedy Cavaliers at home.
