First seed singles player Aries Wong didn’t let his B-CC opponent scratch the scoreboard, winning 6-0 in two sets.

“I came out pretty strong, and put my mind to it and never let up,” Wong said.

Second singles seed Sean Ngo was equally dominant, winning 6-0 in two sets against Paint Branch.

Third seed Lucas Schoch beat Springbrook 6-1, 6-1, while fourth seed Joe Davis prevailed over his Quince Orchard opponent, 6-0, 6-3.

“The competition is going to get a lot tougher as I move through the tournament,” Schoch said. “But I hope I can end up coming out with a win in the finals.”

In the doubles tournament, the first-seeded team of Joey Gumataotao and David Bloch won their match against their Rockville opponents 6-1, 6-0.

“Today was a pretty good result,” Bloch said. “But we’re going to need to keep playing hard if we want to win counties.”

Second seed doubles team Matt Lee and Simon Amat defeated Damascus, and the third seed team of Sam Woodbury and Connor Mundy beat Northwood, both by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

The county quarter-finals will take place May 7, with the Vikings participating at schools around the county.
