The boys basketball team beat the 5-15 Blair Blazers, 57-51, on senior night Feb. 14, improving its record to 5-15.

The Vikes grabbed an early lead in the first quarter, with center Nick Yockey scored the first point off of a foul shot in the early moments of the game. Forward Michael Flack put up a three to finish the first quarter up 15-11.
The Vikings’ shooting stalled in the second quarter, giving the Blazers an opportunity to nab a slim 23-22 lead close to the half. However, the Vikes made another basket to gain back their lead and bring the halftime total to 24-23.
The Vikes maintained a narrow lead that moved between two and six points after the half. In the final minute of the game, the Blazers managed to come within four points. Guard Jake Harrison stole the ball off of a Blazer shot attempt and passed it to forward Andrew Castagnetti, who converted the three-point play after making his lay-up and free-throw, giving the Vikes a 55-48 lead with 30 seconds left. The game ended 57-51.
The win was a good way to bring their regular season to a close, Castagnetti said.
“Today, as a team we played well and finally came together to make the scoreboard look good,” he said. “We finally closed out a tough game and will now hopefully get fans to come to our playoff games later in the month. We did it for our seniors.”
Next, the Vikes travel to take on the 14-5 Blake Bengals Feb. 17.
