Drake’s second full-length album, “Take Care,” released Nov. 15, is almost a complete copy of his debut album, showing that nothing much has changed for the young Canadian actor-turned-rapper within the last year.
Even though Drake brings in some of hip-hop’s biggest names, such as Lil Wayne, Rihanna and Rick Ross, they aren’t enough to compensate for his horrible, repetitive and uninteresting flow. Songs such as “The Ride” and “Practice” exemplify Drake’s lack of style and lyrical content. On every track, Drake spits out lyrics about how famous and rich he is, a subject he can’t seem to stop rapping about.
Even the production on “Take Care” is sub-par, which is odd coming from Drake who, in recent interviews, said he really wanted to increase the production quality in his latest record. But clearly, that never happened, and Drake continues to employ some of the most unoriginal and downright boring beats heard on the radio. Drake continues to put out music that sounds like more of the same from one of hip-hop’s worst lyricists.
Overall, Drake’s newest album is mostly a complete copy of his first one. His unoriginality and lack of experience as a rapper makes this album one to skip on your next visit to iTunes.
