The field hockey team lost to the 6-3 BCC Barons, 4-1, Oct. 5, dropping its record to 4-4.
The Vikes came out strong, with attacker Cassandra McAlister scoring within the first five minutes. They had trouble in the midfield, however, ultimately failing to get the offense much needed opportunities.
The defense played solidly but was overpowered by the Baron’s strong offense, letting in three goals in the first half and one in the second half.
“I thought we came out really strong tonight, but we just couldn’t keep up that effort,” defender Valerie Acker said. “We are going to have to improve our transitions if we want to go deep into the playoffs.”
The team looks to bounce back when they travel to Blair to face the 1-7 Blazers Oct. 11.
