Triangle Blog: Cristiano Ronaldo’s ego

Cristiano Ronaldo passes from stadium to stadium, constantly being booed by fans.  Ronaldo’s reasoning for fans’ hatred: “because I am rich, handsome and a great player, people are envious of me. I don’t have any other explanation.”  After that, he went on to detail how he also needs more protection from refs so that a great player such as himself doesn’t get “mauled.”

Well, Cristiano, maybe if you weren’t such a snob, people would respect you more.  We’re not saying you’re a bad player, but respect will come by leaving it all on the field and scoring goals, not whining about how people are jealous of you for being better than them.

You’re being paid $16 million a year, so the least you can do is play with some integrity.  First of all, cut the flopping; maybe when you’re actually injured the refs will realize it and call a foul accordingly. As a role model to many young players, you should lead by example.  If you stop, other players will too.  You’ll earn their respect, and they may stop “attacking” you so much.
