Field hockey defeated the 4-2 Richard Montgomery Rockets, 2-1, Sept. 19, improving its record to 2-1.
In the first half, the Lady Vikes dominated possession, keeping the ball in the offensive side of the field most of the time. However, the Vikes were unable to convert on several goal opportunities. Both teams went into halftime scoreless.
Following halftime, attacker Sydney Markus scored the Vikes’ only goal of regulation, putting them up 1-0.
The Rockets then responded with a goal of their own, ultimately sending the game into overtime.
Dominant offensive play allowed attacker Sammy Tozzi to score the game-winning goal.
The team will host the 2-0 Poolesville Falcons Sept. 21.
