The boys soccer team beat the 0-1 Poolesville Falcons, 3-1, Sept. 14, improving its record to 3-1.
The Vikings lit up the scoreboard with two goals ten minutes into the game from forward Emmanuel Kanneh on a direct chip and midfielder Vegas Kastberg on a free kick.
The Falcons responded shortly after with a goal off of a corner.
Captain Sebatian Cahe sealed the win with a goal off a corner kick, giving the Vikes a lead the Falcons couldn’t catch up to.
The midfield played a crucial role in the win by intercepting passes and keeping the ball in Whitman’s offensive zone for a majority of the game.
“As a team we didn’t play that well but we still got chances to score,” Cahe said. “The sign of a good team is one that gets scoring chances.”
The boys host the Rockville Rams Sept. 17 for their next game.
