The boys soccer team beat the 1-1 Clarksburg Coyotes, 1-0, in a close game Sept. 12, improving their record to 1-1.
Strong defensive play on both sides kept the score at 0-0 for much of the first half, but the Vikes eventually went up 1-0 when forward Jordan Innerarity scored off a pass by forward Emmanuel Kanneh.
The defense worked hard to keep their clean sheet, and goalkeeper Seth Butler came up big with a dive to the lower right-hand corner to seal the win for the Vikes.
“The game was really close and went right down to the wire thanks to some pretty poor officiating,” backup goalkeeper Mark Cameron said. “But in the end we wrecked things and pulled through with a win.”
