Dear Black and White,
This cartoon is insensitive and unoriginal. Here is why:
The ceremony was closed to first responders for one reason and one reason only; they did not have enough space for both the victims’ families and the first responders to come.
The amount of victims in the trade center attack was in the high hundreds. This means that the amount of immediate family members is well into the thousands. WELL into the thousands.
Similarly, the amount of first responders was. Almost all of New York’s firefighters, rescue workers, and paramedics, many of whom were off-duty, rushed to to the scene. Estimates of the amount of first responders are easily into the thousands as well.
