The jazz band travelled down to Chantilly High School in Virginia to participate in one of the most prestigious scholastic jazz competitions in the East Coast. Whitman won the best big band, composed of seniors Adam Schefkind, Stephen Jacobson and Max Light as well as senior Sahil Ansari and junior Alex Gandolfo who won best combo. 
Senior Adam Schefkind won a $500 scholarship and seniors Sahil Ansari and Stephen Jacobson won “outstanding rhythm section member” awards. The day before Whitman competed, the jazz band performed for the Black & White with professional jazz-pop fusion violinist Chelsey Greene.
