Swim and dive defeated the Sherwood Warriors in its first meet of the season.
Although several key swimmers missed the match because of a USS meet, the girls team won with a score of 102-69 and the boys also won, 101-70.
The team started out strong after a first place finish in the boys 200 yard relay with a final time of 1:47 and the girls with 2:00. Senior Michael Kellman then pulled the Vikings ahead in the boys 200 yard freestyle, completing it in 1:50.
Junior Victoria Kuhn led the girls in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.97 seconds, giving the team an early advantage. Both teams then completed the meet with successful 400 yard freestyle races with winning times of 3:39 for the boys and 4:02 for the girls.
“We had a great first showing for both squads,” head coach Geoffrey Schaefer said. “Even though 1/3 of the teams were away at the big USS meet, our depth held their own.”
The team will take on rival B-CC on Dec. 18 at the Gaithersburg Aquatic Center.
