Girls field hockey defeats Richard Montgomery 5–0, beats WJ 1–0

The field hockey team (4–3) cruised past the Richard Montgomery Rockets (5–3) 5–0 Friday night.
The team stifled the Rockets offense, allowing very few shots on goal throughout the game. The team played strong offensively, consistently putting up shots on goal. Forward Jessica Solomon scored two goals, while defender Mary Hermes, forward Maya Svec, and midfielder Annie Cunniff each had one goal.
On Tuesday night, the team outlasted the Walter Johnson Wildcats (5–4) 1–0 behind another superb defensive effort.
The Vike’s defense pressured the Wildcats offense all game long, shutting out the Wildcats on offense the whole game.
Forward Jessica Solomon scored Whitman’s lone goal in the first ten minutes of the game and it was all the Vikes needed to secure a win.
Midfielder Caroline Snyder controlled the tempo of the game, while defenders Mary Hermes and Alex Robinson anchored the defense limiting the Wildcats’ opportunities.
The Vikes next play the Poolesville Falcons (5–2) Tuesday at 3:45 PM at home.
