http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfkDo-9ne6sThe coed volleyball team snagged its sixth win of the season Wednesday, slamming the Kennedy Cavaliers 3–0.
The Vikes took the lead from the start, showing off a powerful front line and getting multiple points off serves to take the first set 25–11.
“Last game, we weren’t able to get a lot of our serves over, but today our serving was really good,” hitter Michael Azimi said. “Gideon Crawford was able to get the vast majority of his jump serves over, which was great.”
The Vikings continued their success into the second set, and although the Cavaliers improved enough to allow for longer rallies than before, the Vikes cruised to a 25–16 win.
The Cavaliers stepped up on offense in the last set, limiting the Vikes’ lead to only a few points by the end. Thanks to a few Cavalier errors, however, the Vikes came out with a 25–21 victory.
“Near the end, I think we were just kind of getting cocky and felt like we could mess up a little bit, but we were able to come back from it,” Azimi said.
The Vikes’ (6–1) next game is at home Monday at 5:30 against Damascus.
