‘Post’ deliverer robbed at gunpoint

An unharmed Washington Post deliverer was robbed at gunpoint in the Burning Tree neighborhood yesterday, on the corner of Richard Drive and Amy Lane.

The robber allegedly stole the delivery man’s wallet, cell phone and keys around 5:45 a.m., according to resident Roger Ishimoto’s email to the 20817 listserv.

The delivery man was out of his car when he was robbed. After the incident, the thief left in his own car.

Ishimoto’s wife, Joan, said that the delivery man came to their house Saturday morning right after the incident, and asked to use their phone to get help.

The delivery man told Ishimoto that the thief was a 5’ 8’’ black man who spoke “as if he were on drugs or something.”

Joan said that when she found out, she was surprised that such a robbery could occur in the neighborhood.

The Ishimotos immediately notified the police of the incident, but the thief had departed the scene by the time the police arrived.

    1. “The Ishimotos immediately notified the police of the incident, but the thief had departed the scene by the time they arrived.” This has the potential to have pronoun confusion with “they”.
    2. You don’t need the single quotation with Washington Post.

    1. There should be a space between the two sentences: “… and Amy Lane. The robber allegedly…”
    2. Received, not receive (3rd paragraph).
    3. LISTSERV is registered software and should therefore be capitalized (although I understand that it has become a commonly used term and can therefore be generalized).
