Girls basketball (8–3) shut down the Richard Montgomery Rockets 62–16 Tuesday night.
The Vikes jumped out to a 10–0 lead in the first few minutes of the game, and carried a 19–4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Despite a rather off shooting night, guard Marie Hatch, and forwards Livy Meyers and Betsy Knox combined to score 27 points in the first half, increasing the lead to 31–10.
With more suffocating defense, the team held RM to just six points in the second half, and closed the game out strong to secure the 62–16 victory.
“We put a lot of focus on defense this game and we wanted to hold them to the least points possible,” guard Jenna Hosker said.
Livy Meyers and forward Betsy Knox each scored 14 points.
The Vikes play the Wootton Patriots Friday at 7:15.
