Ice hockey lost their last game of the calendar year 6–4 Friday night against the Georgetown Prep Hoyas, bringing their season record to 3–3–2.
The Vikes started off with their usual strength, and matched an early Hoya goal to finish the first period 1–1.
The Hoya offense was more prominent in the second period, however, managing five goals to Whitman’s three despite multiple close saves from Viking defenders.
“In the second [period] we started getting penalties and then we got pretty tired from all the penalty killing we had to do,” winger Bram Wilson said. “But we still kept up the goals and kept putting on pressure.”
Neither team was successful in scoring during the third period, which Wilson attributed to the penalties both teams suffered during the second period.
“I think everyone was getting pretty tired and both teams started playing defensively,” Wilson said.
The team’s next game will be a rematch against the 0–6 Richard Montgomery Rockets, who they previously beat 9–0, January 8 at 7:45 at the Rockville Ice Arena.
